Marrakech Itinerary: The Perfect 3 Days (2026)
Verified June 2026 · costs in MAD · 1 EUR ≈ 10.7 MAD
Three days is the sweet spot for Marrakech — enough to soak up the medina, see the famous gardens, and still escape to the mountains or desert for a day. Here's a tried-and-tested plan, day by day, with what each part costs. Adapt it to your pace; nothing here is rushed.
Day 1 — The Medina
- Morning: start at the Koutoubia mosque gardens (free), then the Bahia Palace (MAD 100) for carved cedar and zellij tilework.
- Afternoon: get lost in the souks — lanterns, spices, leather and rugs. Bargain hard; the first price is fiction.
- Evening: Jemaa el-Fnaa at sunset — food stalls, orange-juice carts and storytellers. Dinner from the stalls, ~MAD 60.
Rough day cost: MAD 150–250 plus your stay.
Day 2 — Gardens, Culture & a Hammam
- Morning: the cobalt-blue Majorelle Garden (MAD 170) and the neighbouring YSL Museum. Arrive at opening to beat the crowds.
- Midday: a traditional hammam and argan-oil massage (MAD 100–300) — the perfect reset.
- Evening: a rooftop sunset with mint tea over the minarets and the Atlas peaks.
Rough day cost: MAD 300–600.
Day 3 — Atlas Mountains or Agafay Desert
- Option A — High Atlas / Ourika Valley day trip (from MAD 200 shared): waterfalls, Berber villages and mountain air.
- Option B — Agafay desert: camel or quad with a sunset dinner (MAD 250–600).
Both are easy day trips booked through your riad or a tour platform, with hotel pickup included.
Only have 1 or 2 days?

Common questions
Is 3 days enough for Marrakech?
Yes — three days covers the medina, the gardens and one day trip comfortably. Add a fourth day if you want both the mountains and the desert, or a slower pace.
What's the best day trip from Marrakech?
The Ourika Valley and High Atlas for greenery and waterfalls, or the Agafay desert for a sunset camel ride close to the city. Both are doable in a day.
When's the best time to visit Marrakech?
March–May and September–November: warm days (25–30°C), cool nights and fewer crowds.
